Pencilled Cranesbill (Geranium versicolor) is a member of the geranium family, and can be found in woodland fringes, certainly in West Cornwall, but I’m sure in plenty of other places too. It originates from the Mediterranean, and was probably a garden escapee, but now definitely counts as a wildflower.
The flower looks pretty in b/w and leaves us to imagine what colour it actually is. Lovely photo. I particularly like the water droplets/dew on the petals.

Thanks Millie 🙂
I must confess, I’m fairly sure you would like/prefer the colour version, which I’ll post one of these days. The petals are light pink, with dark pink to almost maroon veins.

Lovely close-up. Ye know, it reminds me of being a kid who liked to get really close to things. I have always loved wild flowers!

Thank you Meg 🙂
It is amazing how as adults we forget the fascination of looking at things really closely, we so often just end up taking things for granted!
