Red flowered cowslips at Balgonie Bleachfield, near Glenrothes – this small nature reserve was previously a bleachfield, in 1842 (used for bleaching linen), and then used as a landfill site. It’s since been covered up and capped, and replanted with many wildflowers, some of which, however, are not indigenous to the area.
